Wild Skies’ Flat Tops Wilderness Cabin is an outdoor enthusiast’s paradise. Verdant forests weave past expansive meadows; and with so much unspoiled natural beauty, it’s no wonder why The Flat Tops was the first area in the United States designated as a Wilderness. While there’s no doubt that the Flat Tops is indeed extraordinary, you will experience it first hand as you traverse its 3,000-plus square miles of mountains, canyons, caves, rivers, lakes and streams. Be prepared to share the trail with abundant wildlife such as mule deer, elk, black bear, foxes and coyotes.
Although other federal parks can get crowded with visitors, the Flat Tops stays relatively quiet all winter and summer. So get used to having the views all to yourself, as it offers plenty of untouched territory to explore. Carve out a day or two to hiking world class trials like Devil’s Causeway, but save some time for the trails through lesser-known regions, like the the Pyramid Guard Station and Marvine Creek. While the sheer number of trails and wildlife-watching opportunities may seem daunting at first, remember: You can always stay longer and you can always visit us again in another season.

The 235,000+ acres of Flat Tops Wilderness is considered by many to be the crown jewel of America’s wilderness system. It contains the valleys, lakes and streams that make up the headwaters of several tributaries to the Colorado River including the White River and the Yampa. Elevations vary from 8000’ to 12,500’.
