Cabin Rental Info

Colorado Cabin Rental Rules and Information

The Flat Tops Luxury Cabin Rental Terms and Conditions

Prior to your arrival at Wild Skies, please read and review the appropriate rental agreement and the rules that pertain to the property. One agreement is exclusively for snowmobilers and the other is for all other Guest activities. Wild Skies asks that you sign the agreement after reviewing it and scan it and email it back to us.  Upon arrival an orientation will occur. If there is an additional guest that has not signed the agreement or someone who was unable to email it to Wild Skies, they will be asked to sign it upon conclusion of the orientation.

Also, in case of an emergency, we require Guests to fill out an Emergency Information Form.  Please either fill it out and scan it back to us or bring it with you when you arrive.  Please note for safety it is always recommended that you leave a note behind in the house each day listing where you plan to go for the day and also leave such a sheet or map with a circle on it in your parked vehicle if you drive to another trailhead.  This greatly assists rescue operations, God forbid, should they be needed.

 Inside the Cabin

Kitchen

The gourmet kitchen comes complete with place settings for up to 20 people.  All flatware, glasses, pots and pans, cookie sheets etc. are on hand. There is also a toaster, coffee pot,  blender, food processor ,multiple cutting boards and knives, along with all serving utensils (i.e. can opener, bottle opener, wine opener, spatulas, soup ladles etc.). Serving dishes and platters are also on hand.

Some spices may be on hand but it is best for you to bring all spices and condiments you require.  Also bring plastic wrap/ziplock bags/foil/parchment paper.

Kitchen Appliances

There are two ovens, a six burner stove, refrigerator and an oversized propane BBQ grill.  The propaneBBQ grill is connected to the 2,000 gallon propane tanks that service the entire house for heat and the stove as well. Please make sure you completely shut down the grill and turn off the propane valve which is located to the left of the stove.

There is no dishwasher or microwave, so please do not bring anything that requires microwaving. There also is no ice maker so please bring ice or make ice cubes with the trays we supply.

We supply garbage bags, one roll of paper towels some napkins and a sponge and dish soap. If you feel you might need more than this please bring those items with you.

Since the property is off grid and we must produce our own power, we ask that guests do not bring items with heating elements such as waffle makers, slow cookers etc.

Also, please keep the glass door between the mudroom and kitchen closed. The mudroom is kept at a much lower temperature than the rest of the house.

Dining Areas

The breakfast bar seats up to 4 people and the dining room table can seat up to 10.

Grill

An oversized propane BBQ Grill is on the deck outside the dining/kitchen area of the cabin. We supply the propane, you supply the food to grill.

f traveling during the winter when we bring your belongings in on a snowcat, please make sure to pack everything in either a rubber tote, duffle bag, cardboard box or other sealed container.  We cannot transport loose items or items in unsealed bags such as plastic grocery bags.  Please contact us if you have any questions. We have a lot of opportunistic animals such as mice, raccoons, marmots etc. that would jump at the chance to enter our home. Please make sure to keep all exterior doors closed at all times.

Additionally, open windows  work great to cool the house, but if you are planning on leaving for the day, we ask you completely shut and lock all windows to ensure rain from potential storms that crop up doesn’t get into the home and damage flooring, furniture etc. Due to the secluded location of the property cell phones do not work anywhere in the general area outside a few “phone booths” where a cell phone might work on a high mountain pass.  As such, we have a land line for domestic continental US calls only-no int’l including Canada and Mexico and no 900 numbers.  There is also an old fashioned answering machine.  Please use our telephone instead of Skype or other Internet solutions for contacting anyone off property but in the continental US.

We do have satellite Internet; however, it does have bandwidth limitation and as such we ask you use the TV to watch the news and not stream videos on your computers or wireless devices. Also please do not use your devices to Skype or otherwise use bandwidth intensive applications.

We have a nice DirecTV package.  Since the property is off grid we ask that when you are no longer watching the television you turn it off including the HD television receiver.

All bathrooms come stocked with hand soap and multiple rolls of toilet paper and towels (wash cloths, hand and bath towels). Please do not use our bathroom towels for messy clean up jobs or other non-intended uses. We have a box of rag towels on hand in the mudroom to be used to wipe shoes, boots, floors etc.

Since the property is off grid and we must produce our own power, we ask that guests do not bring items with heating elements such as hair dryers, curling irons, etc.

Lastly, make sure all water devices are completely shut off and any toilet that has been flushed has completely stopped using water. Sometimes a flapper valve can hang open and result in running continuously to refill the tank and will result in an empty water bladder and it will take many hours for the well to fully recharge the system and fill the well bladder.  If a toilet will not stop filling with water and you have manually tried fixing the flapper valve in a toilet, please take the next step to turn the water off at the toilet. The valve can be found in the bottom back side of the toilet from a wall connection.  Please call us if this occurs.

Since the property is off grid we ask that when you leave a room or are done using a light you switch it off.  This also applies to plug-in chargers for devices such as cell phones, GPS units and laptops. After your device has fully charged up, please completely unplug the charging cable from the outlet. Even after taking the device off the charging unit, the charging unit will still consumer the same amount of power.

All smoke detectors are also carbon monoxide detectors and are battery powered.  Sometimes small moths or other little bugs are attracted to the glow of the green light in the smoke detector at 2am.  As they flutter around inside the smoke detector they can possibly set off the alarm.  If that happens, and you have checked and no fire exists, please have the tallest member of your group reach up to one of the smoke detectors and press the button on it to reset the smoke detector and shut off the alarm.

Linens

All are fully furnished with linens and we ask that you not bring any of your own pillows, blankets, towels, linens.

Heat

All bedrooms have individual thermostat controls for radiant in floor heat settings.  Radiant in floor heat is slow to heat up and cool down so do not adjust the thermostat more than 2 degrees per every 3 hours to allow for proper adjustment of thermostat heating zones.

Beds

One bedroom has two queen beds and the other three have one queen and twin bunkbeds. Only hand soap and linens are provided. Please bring your own personal hygiene items.

The master bedroom has a full bath and one queen and twin bunk beds.

The two upper level bedrooms share a hallway bath and the lower level bedroom has one full hallway bath.

All adults 18 years old and older staying on property are required to sign this agreement!
